The reason sarcophagus lids weigh so damn much.
No more heavy lifting in the evenings.
He can carry the shovel as well.

One i may return to at a later date for a little embellishment.
Really enjoyed the sculptural nature of the form, and the more i worked on it the more gruesomely realistic it became.
Oddly enough, I feel that the empty surface he is facing works well with the figure.

I really like all the subtle colour variations here, and the shiny/smooth texture of the skin c: I agree that the empty background works well, too.

If there's a common theme in your work is how light you make the grotesque. Very beautiful yet rancid at the same time. The colors almost call a insect larvae at points.

You know, I don't think there's ever a time you've ceased to amaze me with your incredible art, not only for its phenomenal amount of detail, but for the macabre and intriguing concepts you whip together with artistic prowess for a deadly and spectacular combination. :) I know I don't comment much of late, but looking back on this piece again and observing the details for the second time today, I'm coming to appreciate the amount of effort and dedication you throw into each and every piece, from the more than impressive, formidable and flawlessly proportioned muscle structure depicted for the naked eye to see, to the gruesomely morbid details that give a gorgeous concept a nightmarish twist, or a nightmarish concept an uncannily beautiful one. I love how the vertebrae of the creature's spine protrude from the skin that appears to be seamed together, and there's always that subtle yet photographic definition to the features that give your piece the realistic edge they're so renowned for. I especially love what you've done with the skull, here, and as ever how the skin overlaps grotesquely over exposed openings of the skeletal structure. Even from a side view, there's something about the vacant sockets that gives the impression that his "gaze" could bore right into your very soul. A beautifully eerie colour palette, too, and the lighting is so serene, in contrast to the concept of the picture itself. :D

I don't know what it is about this piece, but this somehow has to be one of my personal favourites of yours, possibly because there's something in the way the character's designed that fascinates me so much.

Definitely have some good balance going on here with the empty space and his attention on it. I love the translucent skin and visible muscle going on.
