Mr. Corbitt's Final Repose

Description

The house, an unremarkable and dilapidated example of colonial real-estate, had stood on Lazenby Street on the outskirts of Boston for numerous generations. Its neglected front porch listed alarmingly, the wooden pillars barely resisting the ravages of rot and untold years of indifferent repair.
Its occupants never remained in it for long and currently it stood empty as it had for the last five years.
Residents slept fitfully under its roof. Odd noises and half-glimpsed, half-imagined presences caused many such acute distress, that some departed after a single night. Braver souls persisted, denying their senses, but swiftly fell prey to ill-health. Others succumbed to nervous afflictions of the most appalling sort. The last owner killed his wife and children in the basement, with a kitchen knife...
Behind a wall of crumbling bricks in the cluttered basement is a voidspace hidden in the buildings foundations. The original owner and builder of the house on Lazenby street resides here... This is the resting place of Mr. Walter Corbitt.

(Based on a Call of Cthulhu scenario by Chaosium Inc.)

Walter Corbitt had become a vampire of sorts. Not one the suave, fanged, darkly beautiful variety, but a dead man. One who had bound his spirit to the earthly plane. He was able to subsist on the psychic fear of any who entered the house on Lazenby street, but when his hiding place was threatened he had other, more direct, means of harming his would-be discoverers...
This is the form in which he was discovered, and eventually defeated. Even without a physical body to house his spirit he was able to return in dreams to take sustenance. They met him again in that fashion, as a dreamwraith they knew as the thin man.

(I shall revisit Walter again, the old drawing of the Thinman in my gallery, I can certainly improve upon...)

EDIT: A long overdue revamp of an old piece. I have a lot of fondness for this image and for the character it depicts so I decided to have a go at improving the realism, with subtler lighting, better texturing and an overall more finished look.
